Exciting news! We’re delighted to announce that Alexander Steinkuhl was elected as President of the German Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong (GCC) for 2025 at yesterday’s first official board meeting of the new year.
He is taking over from Johannes Hack, whose tenure has ended after three successful years at the helm of the chamber. The GCC Board would like to thank Johannes for his unwavering commitment and leadership throughout his presidency, and we very much look forward to building on past accomplishments and developing new initiatives for members with Alex in the coming year. Alex will be supported by Karena Belin and Bjoern Lindner as Vice Presidents, while Bing Yan will continue to serve as Treasurer of GCC.
The GCC Board also dove into an exciting workshop to outline their plans and how they will directly benefit the GCC members.
The main areas the Board decided to focus on are:
1. Engaging Existing Members and Welcoming New Ones: The GCC Board aims to further enhance member engagement and warmly welcomes new members through various initiatives.
2. Committees and Working Groups: At the core of the chamber work are the Committees and Working Groups. Explore the different themed groups and reach out if you wish to join. For example, a new GCC AI Working Group will help members advance their AI knowledge and find practical applications for new technologies.
3. German Business School: The establishment of the German Business School is progressing rapidly, with the Board supporting this initiative with various resources.
4. External Stakeholder Engagement: The Board will continue to engage with external stakeholders in Hong Kong, including various government bodies and media, to represent our members’ interests.
5. Women in Business Initiative: The GCC Board is excited to launch a new initiative around Women in Business, kicking off on International Women’s Day on 8 March.
6. Strengthening Ties with the Greater Bay Area: The Board aims to strengthen ties with the Greater Bay Area, particularly the partnership with the German Chamber of Commerce in China | South & Southwest China.
7. Christmas Party 2025: This year, the Board plans to elevate our Christmas party, bringing more members together to celebrate.
