Food & Agriculture Delegation from Saxony-Anhalt

From 9 to 12 November, we welcomed a highly diverse and impressive food and agriculture delegation from Saxony-Anhalt. The delegation comprised representatives from Stenger Waffeln Gerwisch GmbH, Bodeta Süßwaren GmbH, AsCom Confection GmbH, Wikana Keks und Nahrungsmittel GmbH, Weißenfelser Handels-Gesellschaft mbH, LeHA GmbH (Schlagfix), KATHI Rainer Thiele GmbH and Hochschule Anhalt — all driven by curiosity, the ambition to explore new markets and build lasting international partnerships.

The delegation participated in a well-rounded programme that combined cultural experiences, market insights and engaging meetings organised in collaboration with the Ministerium für Wirtschaft, Tourismus, Landwirtschaft und Forsten, the Saxony-Anhalt Food Network, Agrarmarketinggesellschaft Sachsen-Anhalt mbH, and IHK Halle-Dessau. Our sincere thanks go to all partners and speakers who helped make this programme a success — with special appreciation to State Secretary Gert Zender for his continued engagement throughout the visit.

The journey began with a scenic tour across Victoria Peak and Victoria Harbour, followed by a political and economic briefing and joint dinner at Heimat by Peter Find, together with the German Consulate General Hong Kong and Germany Trade & Invest.

On Monday, we visited City Super to explore Hong Kong’s premium retail environment, before heading to Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) for an introduction to local innovation. Delegates toured the HiVE Laboratory, learned about Sustainable Urban Green Agriculture, and visited the Food and Wine Academy at the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at PolyU. The day continued with an exclusive behind-the-scenes visit to Hong Kong Maxim's Group factory and concluded with an exclusive networking evening at Biergarten, bringing together delegates and members of the local German business community.

On Tuesday, the delegation was welcomed by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council for a focused briefing on market entry strategies and consumer trends in Hong Kong’s food industry, retail landscape, and F&B sector, followed by a guided visit through the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

At the heart of the programme was the B2B matchmaking session, where delegates engaged directly with local distributors, buyers, and business partners. Product tastings, one-on-one conversations, and in-depth exchanges offered practical perspectives on doing business in the region and laid the groundwork for future collaboration.

After their visit to Hong Kong, the delegation seamlessly continued their journey to Ho Chi Minh City for the second leg of their programme, organised by our colleagues at the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam. We wish them every success and look forward to welcoming the group back to Hong Kong soon!
