On Friday, 30 January 2026, we had the pleasure of hosting our Hong Kong and China Economic Outlook 2026 breakfast seminar, featuring Dr. Yi Xiong, Chief China Economist at Deutsche Bank, who shared valuable insights into the region’s evolving economic landscape.
During his presentation, Yi highlighted shifting consumer trends, noting a transition from spending on material goods toward services. He also explored how internal migration continues to shape housing prices, retail dynamics, and tourism patterns across both Mainland China and Hong Kong. His observation on the growing interest in finance and AI among Peking University students offered an encouraging glimpse into the future direction of talent development and industry focus.
