Independent Economic and Monetary System
Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region of China with its own independent economic and monetary system. The city has a separate framework for commercial, civil, customs, and tax law, as well as its own currency, the freely convertible Hong Kong dollar (HKD). For businesses, Hong Kong offers stable conditions, free movement of capital, and a familiar, internationally oriented environment for investment, regional management, and the development of Asia‑Pacific business activities.

Global Financial Centre, Offshore RMB Hub and Regulatory Sandbox
Hong Kong is one of the world’s leading financial and stock exchange centres. At the same time, the city plays a central role as the key offshore trading hub for the renminbi (RMB). Businesses benefit from free capital flows, an established RMB clearing system, and the ability to structure China‑related transactions outside the Chinese mainland. In parallel, Hong Kong deliberately positions itself as a regulatory sandbox for fintech, Web3 applications, digital assets and DeFi models, where innovation is tested within a clearly defined and internationally compatible framework. This combination of stability, connectivity and regulatory innovation positions Hong Kong as a bridge between China and global markets.

Global Supply Chain Management and Regional Diversification
Due to its geographic location, Hong Kong serves as a central hub for German and international sourcing and procurement offices. Its close proximity to South China and Southeast Asia enables short distances to production sites, suppliers, and regional growth markets. In the context of diversification and derisking, the location supports both the safeguarding of existing China operations and the parallel development of new sourcing, production, and market access pathways in ASEAN and beyond.
