Many Chinese technology companies, particularly those in robotics and smart industrial hardware, are moving up the value chain from OEM/ODM manufacturing to developing globally competitive products and solutions in their own right. For German and Hong Kong businesses, this creates a significant opportunity to source, commercialise, integrate and scale Chinese technology for European customers.
Hong Kong-based trading companies are well placed to bridge Chinese industrial innovation and European markets. German and other European companies can likewise use well-designed partnerships to access new technologies, complement their existing product portfolios and accelerate time to market.
This is, however, no longer a conventional buy-and-resell proposition. Successful European deployment may require product localisation and compliance, systems integration, complex software and data arrangements, lifecycle support and aftersales service. Novel recurring-revenue models such as Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS) create further complexity around asset ownership and control of the customer relationship.
Success therefore depends not only on selecting the right technology partner, but on designing the right commercial and legal architecture from day one.
In this executive briefing, Fangda Partners and Gleiss Lutz will bring together the China/Hong Kong and Germany/EU perspectives. Drawing on their combined experience in China–Europe transactions, the speakers will take attendees through the lifecycle of a modern technology partnership, from the first term sheet in the Greater Bay Area to commercial deployment in the DACH region.
Who should attend?
The session is designed for professionals in the sourcing and trading sectors responsible for establishing or expanding complex partnerships with Chinese robotics and smart hardware companies - and for those still weighing such a step. It is equally relevant to decision-makers at German and European manufacturers, distributors and technology companies exploring Chinese robotics and automation technologies - whether as partners, customers or investors.
No legal background is required: the focus is on strategic frameworks and the legal issues and risks that matter in practice. The briefing is structured around practical executive-level "must-knows", including:
- Choosing the right partnership model and legal structure.
- Protecting market-development investments and securing exclusivity.
- Managing IP, know-how and cross-border data flows.
- Navigating EU investment screening and the EU regulatory framework.
This event will be conducted in English and will be followed by a Q&A session. A light German lunch will be provided.
Remarks:
- Advance booking is required.
- Seats are limited. Booking priority to members on a first-come, first-served basis. All registrations are subject to approval and availability.
