Island Waldorf School

Founded in 2017, Island Waldorf School was the first Waldorf school on Hong Kong Island. Rooted in an understanding of children's development, Waldorf education nurtures its students' physical, emotional, and intellectual growth with a holistic and arts-integrated curriculum. Island Waldorf School offers a Kindergarten to Grade 8 (K-8, ages 3-14) education across two campuses in Kennedy Town. Their lead teachers are experienced Waldorf educators from all over the world who are supported by an auxiliary team of subject teachers who are locally trained. Island Waldorf School see it as their mission to constantly enliven and renew this pedagogical impulse in the local context, carrying forth that which was started a hundred years ago in Stuttgart, Germany. The school is an IRD-approved non-profit charity, funded entirely by fees from parents who see the value of a different kind of childhood. It is our belief that this warm, artistic, child-centred education is a sorely needed antidote to the excessively modernized lifestyle of this cosmopolitan.
