Hapag-Lloyd is a shipping group with diversified interests in international logistics. Its forerunners were both founded more than 150 years ago. The Hamburg-Amerika Line (or Hapag for short) was set up in Hamburg in 1847, and Norddeutscher Lloyd ten years later in Bremen. In 1970, the two long-established companies merged to form Hapag-Lloyd. After the acquisition of CP Ships in 2005, the merger with CSAV and UASC in 2014 and 2017 respectively, the company became one of the top five shipping companies in the world. The Hamburg-based company is globally present in more than 125 countries and about 360 sales offices with 13,000 employees. We offer customers complex logistical solutions and a comprehensive service package. Hapag-Lloyd vessels have been calling at the port of Hong Kong for over 100 years serving the needs of manufacturers and traders. Our environmental protection guidelines formulated at the beginning of 1996 document our commitment to the cause of environmental protection and the standards we expect to be upheld by all our employees. Already in 2003, Germanischer Lloyd certified the quality and environmental management of Hapag-Lloyd.
