The arrangement of contacts, assistance in setting up new business contacts and providing advice are the key services offered by the Cologne Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Chamber has extensive knowledge of the wide range of laws and regulations. It is an expert on tax and customs questions, on problems involving contracts and the selling and buying of goods across borders. The Chamber maintains a wide range of contacts to the world. Through foreign trade conferences, professional study tours and through contacts with foreign visitors the Chamber maintains good relationships beyond Germany’s borders. In addition, the Chamber established specific close ties to the following countries and regions: China, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Taiwan, Turkey and Vietnam. Founded in 1797, the Cologne Chamber is one of the oldest chambers of commerce in Germany. Its region – the third largest industrial region in Germany in terms of economic power – includes the cities of Cologne and Leverkusen, the Erft, Rheinisch-Bergisch and Oberbergisch Districts. Around 150.000 companies are members of the chamber, of which about 9.000 are engaged in foreign trade activities.
