German Industry and Commerce Ltd.
Inaugurated in Hong Kong in 1987, German Industry and Commerce Ltd. (GIC) is a member of the AHK network of 140 offices in over 90 countries and territories. A non-government, non-political private registered association with the public mandate of the Federal Republic of Germany to represent the overall economic interests of Germany, GIC focuses on the promotion of bilateral trade and investment between Germany and our region.
As the official China and Hong Kong representative of Messe Berlin GmbH, as well as the Hong Kong representative of Spielwarenmesse eG, GIC provides trade fair related services to inbound and outbound exhibitors and visitors.
Furthermore, GIC provides the management, dedicated staff and other resources to the German Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong (GCC).
In co-operation with the German Swiss International School in Hong Kong, GIC offers two vocational training programmes in compliance with the German ‘dual system’ scheme. The certificate is fully recognized in Germany and endorsed by the Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK).
German Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong
Founded in 1983, the German Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong is one of the largest membership associations among the European national chambers today with over 450 members. It serves as a catalyst, promoter and facilitator of members’ interests in Hong Kong, China, Germany and the region. As such, the Chamber is also involved in trade and investment promotion between Hong Kong and Germany along with German Industry and Commerce Ltd. (GIC), a member of the officially mandated German Chambers of Commerce Abroad (AHK), the German Consulate General, and the office of Germany Trade and Invest.
GCC in partnership with GIC offers a wide range of services for its members, including regular events, in order to keep them updated on current trends, and to provide a forum for members to network, discuss and exchange information and views. It also helps to facilitate, consult, offer marketing exposure and opportunities, and provide solutions for members, for instance in dealing with governmental administrative hurdles in Hong Kong, China, and Germany. GCC represents members through important international government and business committees.
Members comprise of German, Hong Kong and international companies with interest in doing business in Germany or in co-operation with German business partners.
