Asia-World Expo, Hong Kong

More than 800 exhibitors from over 40 different countries and 23 national pavilions exhibited at ASIA FRUIT LOGISTICA 2017 (AFL), Asia’s leading fresh fruit and vegetable trade show held at Hong Kong’s AsiaWorld-Expo Centre from 4-6 September - the biggest and best edition yet. Organised by Global Produce Events GmbH, AFL covered two halls this year, and bookings for exhibition space expanded by around 30 per cent on the 2016 show, Exhibitor numbers were also up sharply on last year’s edition, which attracted 665 exhibitors.

Not only responsible for organizing the GIC China Pavilion at AFL, German Industry and Commerce brought in total more than 170 Chinese & HK exhibitors with more than a 60% increase compared to last year.

Prior to the trade show on September 4th, at the Asia Fruit Logistica’s Annual Press Conference, Chris White, the Managing Director of Fruitnet Media International, introduced key statistics of this year’s international trade exhibition. Furthermore, John Hey, Editor of Asia Fruit Magazine, highlighted dominant trends on the Asian fruit market. Wilfried Wollbold, Global Brand Manager for Fruit Logistica, announced the expansion of the Fruit Logistica Brand Family. China Fruit Logistica, a trade fair for the Chinese single market, will launch in May 2018.

Ahead of the official opening of AFL, delegates took part in the Asia Fruit Congress. The speakers examined market trends and opportunities. A signature event of the Conference was the announcement of the Asia Fruit Award recipients.

Completing the opening of the fair on Wednesday morning, Mr. Chris White, Mr Stephen Phillips (Director-General of Investment Promotion of Invest Hong Kong), and Jimmy Chiang (Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion of Invest Hong Kong) took part in a tour guided by Mr. Wilfried Wollbold, to provide a deeper insight into the various types of fruits and vegetables on the market.
