Invest in Germany
Germany is Europe’s best-performing economy and the largest market in Europe. It constitutes 21 percent of European GDP, and is home to 16 percent of the total European Union (EU) population. The German economy is both highly industrialized and diversified; with equal focus placed on services and production. The German market is open for investment in practically all industry sectors, and business activities are free from regulations restricting day-to-day business.
Germany registered almost 1,700 foreign direct investments in 2014, a record 3.2 billion euros in foreign investment, as the number of new investors reached an all-time high thanks largely to growing interest from China. With 190 projects, China was the largest greenfield investor. Including M&A deals, the USA is the most important country for FDI in Germany. All other projects originate in Europe. Preferred investment areas for international companies were the business & financial services and ICT & software sectors.
The World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report 2015 shown that Germany rising one place to 4th in the world. The report, which creates a composite score drawn from a country’s performance across a number of economic ‘pillars’, such as infrastructure, goods and labour market efficiency, business sophistication and innovation, noted especially Germany’s global excellence in terms of business sophistication, market dominance and aspects of education and innovative capacity, while the market size – Germany is Europe’s largest economy – was also an advantage.
In fact, the manufacturing sector represents nearly one fifth of Germany’s "value added" – one of the highest shares in Europe. Increasingly more foreign companies are placing their faith in Germany as a vital production site location, and are benefiting from the country’s excellent business framework and superior productivity rates.
